You must have thought about it more than once when passing by our restaurant or when tasting one of our delicious dishes inside: why «Via Appia»?
«Via Appia» (in English, «Appian Way») is not just another Italian name, and neither is our restaurant just another Italian one. So we hope you will like this post about the reasons that made us choose this name for our place.
The Via Appia is one of the most emblematic symbols in the city of Rome because of its history: Appius Claudius Caecus wanted it to be built and the hard task begun in 312 b.C.
Ever since it was finished, it became an undoubtedly useful element of the Roman civilization, because it made transportation a lot faster, and the soldiers could also «flow» faster towards different cities such as Formiae (Formia) or Tarracina.
From Rome to Capua, there are exactly 540 km. Knowing this, it is not hard to understand why important characters in history (such as Napoleon) have shown their astonishment.
We hope you enjoyed our post. Did you know these things? From now on, you may look at our restaurant’s name in a slightly different way…
Thanks for reading and have a nice week!
